The Kierrn reproduce in only one way: through the Pahar'ryn The Pahar'ryn Kierrn are capable of changing a human or other animal into Kierrn. But the risks in this are high to both the Kierrn and the subject, and success is not assured. Most times it is humans that are turned, but animals may be turned as well (see below for more info). The human must first be capable of the Pahar'ryn geneticly. This comes across as a certain "scent" to the Kierrn, telling them that the human is geneticly sound. Once the subject has been chosen, the Kierrn must prepare for the Pahar'ryn. Prior to enacting the ritual, the Kierrn must make him/herself and the chosen a "den" by gathering essential herbs, fresh meat, and entreating the moon goddess for a successful change. He/she must plan for the ritual to occur on a full moon to ensure that the moon magics are at their peak. Once the preparations are ready, the Kierrn will take the subject to the den and perform mind magics on them to prepare their bodies. Then the Kierrn will change to their true form and will work Rhial* into their mouth, mixing it with their saliva until it becomes a foam. When they are ready they will bite the human in a non-vital area (arm, shoulder, thigh, etc), working the Rhial foam deep into the wound, and injecting a part of their own soul into the subject as well. Then they must wait for the outcome, drained, and attend the subject while the Rhial works into the subjects system. This is the hardest part for the subject, and is the most dangerous. Often the re-writing of the genetic code is far too harmfull to the subject (especially if they are human) and they die. If, however, the genetics are right, and the moon is favorable, the subject will slip into a fevered state, and eventually a coma-like state, and will remain so until the third night of the full moon. If the change is successful, the subject will awaken and undergo a painfull shift to their new form and back again. If they survive this last test, they will shift to their new "true form" and be ravenously hungry for meat, which the Kierrn will have ready for them. They will have to eat fresh meat for several days afterwards (to replenish their bodies), and then they will be able to begin their new life as a Kierrn. Other subjects tend to be larger, predatory animals such as big cats, large canids, bears, etc. Changing animals is very, very rarely successful, but when it is the animal does not change into a wolf, rather it stays the same animal but is able to change into a human and generally has the same traits as a Kierrn. *Rhial is a rare substance held in special glands in the throat. The Kierrn only has a limited amount of Rhial in these glands (about enough for 4-6 tries at Pahar'ryn per Kierrn). Rhial is not replenishable. Sexuality Kierrn are sexual creatures, although they cannot (generally) reproduce sexually. Their sexual nature is simply another means to lure their prey to them, exuding a preternatural, feral sexual attraction that they can focus at will. Being immune to diseases as they are, they also do not carry or transmit STDs of any kind. A Kierrn, when motivated, can get any person he/she wants, whether or not that person is in a relationship/marriage, is celibate, or otherwise uninterested. The attraction to the Kierrn is so intense that it takes great willpower to resist their allure. |
