Kierrn are very complex creatures, creatures made of magic, and thus they have several characteristics
that are unique to them as a race.

CHANGING FORMS:

* Clothing and other items on the Kierrn do not shift when they do. Clothes tear, shoes burst at the seams, and other items break and fall off as the Kierrn increases in size. Because of this, Kierrn (if they live in the wilderness, and most do), stick to wearing things that will not be uncomfortable if they shift. Large necklaces, earrings, vests, loincloths, and stretchable items are all worn. Likewise clothing that was destroyed in shifting is, logically, not there when they go to a human form, leaving them naked.

* Once meat is consumed in the True Form, the Kierrn must stay in that form until at least 75% of the meat is digested (usually about an hour). The reason? If the Kierrn is in his true form, and he shifts to a smaller form, where is the meat to go? Either it will be regurgitated as the mass gets smaller, or the Kierrn bursts internally. The mass of the food does not change when the mass of the Kierrn does.

* It usually only takes three seconds to shift from one form to another. A mild sensation of pain is felt during the shift, followed by a sense of euphoria afterwards.

STRENGTH: Kierrn are immensely strong in all forms, able to throw a 200 lb man 50 ft and bench 600 lbs in the Humanis form, and flip a semi on it's side and bench nearly a ton in their True Form. In their Wolfen form they can plow through chest-high snow with ease, and hang on to a thrashing buffalo with the grip of a lion.

SPEED: Kierrn are also fast and agile in all forms, able to run up to 40 MPH in human form, sustain a pace of 50 MPH in their True Form, sprint up to 60 MPH, and can run full speed up to 70 MPH in their Wolfen form. Kierrn also have the flexitibility and nimbleness of a cat in humanis form, and to a lesser extent in their True and Wolfen forms.

HEALTH & RESILIANCE: Kierrn can survive almost anything. They are not adversely affected by extreme temperatures (up to 120 F and colds of down to -40), though these extremes are not comfortable, they are also not a real threat. A Kierrn can walk naked through snow in his Humanis form and will not be affected. A Kierrn can also go four weeks without food, and two weeks without water when he has to, though he is not happy about it. Past that point he will collapse. The average Kierrn can also hold their breath for ten minutes. The werewolf's ability to heal is the stuff of legend. Kierrn bones set within minutes, wounds close within moments, and lost limbs are regenerated fully within a week, regardless of the form they are in. In fact, the only things that can do real damage to a Kierrn are fire, severe trauma to the head or spine, and the deadliest of all, silver.

SILVER: Silver is the deadliest of materials to a Kierrn. All of their senses are triggered by silver, sounding like an electric hum to their ears, smelling like ozone to their noses, and appearing like waves of heat are coming off of the silver item to their eyes, thus it is fairly uncomfortable for them to be around silver. When they are wounded by silver it cancels out their ability to heal quickly and if the silver is inside of them it poisons the blood within a few days. If the damage is to a vital organ or area, death is fairly instantaneous. Silver directly on the skin (not fur) causes a rash within a few hours, but generally doesn't do more than that. Despite all of this, though, most Kierrn wear objects of silver at all times, enduring the discomfort of it and eventually learning to ignore it's presence. Why? It is their only defense against the Y'vrr and other creatures. See the "Others" section for more info.

THE HUNGER : Kierrn are a race created for a specific purpose: to cull the human herd. To pick out the weak, sick, or insane and help keep the human race healthy. Obviously they haven't done a good job at this task, and they live with the fact of their failure every day. That aside, a Kierrn needs the life energy of humans to survive and keep their powers strong. This need is a force the Kierrn call "The Hunger". Much like a vampiric hunget for blood, the Kierrn instead craves the very life force. This life force is found in all living things, but it is the life force of a human that the Kierrn craves, and needs. Once a human is caught and killed, his life force must be taken immediately by imbibing a part of the victim. Usually the life force is at the surface, and the Kierrn takes it immediately after the first bite. However, if the human is strong or they are still alive, the life force has to be drawn out by the Kierrn latching on to the human and concentrating the life force to their mouth. When the life force is taken in, it is like a brilliant rush of sunlight and joy, a euphoria unlike any other a Kierrn can experience, and it triggers their real Hunger. After the life force is taken the Kierrn cannot help but to start eating what is left. It is also considered respectfull to the kill to eat all of the body, including the bones and hair. All that the human was is taken in reverently and nothing is left, if the Kierrn can help it at all.

Animals, while they have a life force of their own, are not as fulfilling to a Kierrn as a human kill. The life force simply is not sufficient enough to slake that thirst, though it may hold it off for a time. A Kierrn can hold of blood frenzy for about a week with animal kills before the need for human meat becomes overwhelming, and they enter the frenzy.

BLOOD FRENZY: A Kierrn absolutely MUST absorb human life force every two weeks or he becomes Ravenous. A Kierrn who is Ravenous loses his ability to control himself or to make carefull kills. Instead, he goes into a frenzy of destruction, mindlessly killing and ravaging anything that comes near, gorging himself on human meat until his need is satiated and he returns to normal, only to face the chaos he has rent. While in a blood frenzy, a Kierrn will kill anything that moves, but will only be interested in eating human meat, and only a human kill will bring a Kierrn out of a blood frenzy. If a Kierrn goes into a blood frenzy and there are no humans about, he will simply be like a rabid animal until he finds what he needs or collapses.

LIFESPAN: Because of their regenerative abilities which are sustained by life force, Kierrn can live to an old age of around 500 years, at which point their bodies beging to break down, along with their minds. Most Kierrn die before they reach old age, but if they should live that long death will occur around 550 years of age.

SENSES: The Kierrn have wolf-like senses in all forms. They are able to hear, smell, and see better than any man could ever dream of. Also, the Kierrn can create inhuman howls, growls, whines, and squeaks in human and speak human words (albiet limitedly) in their True Form.

LANGUAGE: The Kierrn language is one that humans could not hope to comprehend. It is a mixture of words, grunts, growls, squeaks, whuffs, and howls, and most of the language is comprised of body language. In fact, more can be implied from a Kierrn's posture than any words could convey.

TEMPER: Kierrn are unpredictable and tempermental. Kierrn, one and all, have a short temper that can even cause a shift when provoked. Anything can set a Kierrn off and when they rage, all hell breaks loose.
